In commemoration of the 900th anniversary of the birth of Averroes, also known as Ibn Rushd, a gathering of 120 poets from 14 different countries is set to honor the legacy and impact of this renowned philosopher from Cordoba and Marrakech. This initiative, described by participant Abdel Aziz Koukass as a literary endeavor with an international dimension, aims to celebrate the enduring influence of Abu Walid Muhammad Ibn Ahmad Ibn Rushd, one of the most significant figures produced by Andalusian civilization. The project is being celebrated through a unique "poetic anthology" that brings together diverse voices, reflective of various cultures and languages, drawing inspiration from the rich human, philosophical, and universal heritage of the great thinker from Cordoba.

A Cultural Milestone: Events and Collaborations

The anthology's presentation is anticipated to launch in Cordoba, followed by events in Marrakech, Fez, and Madrid during the months of September and November. Koukass further elaborated that the publication of this literary work has been entrusted to the prestigious publishing house Almuzara, which is supported by several important institutions, including the Cervantes Institute, the Cedro Center, the Andalusian Ministry of Culture, the City Council of Cordoba, the Moroccan Association for Andalusian Friendship "Forum Ibn Rushd," and the Baliaria Foundation. These organizations have united their efforts to ensure the success of what is expected to become one of the most significant cultural initiatives during the "Year of Averroes."

The anthology features a diverse array of poets, including notable names such as Abdel Latif Laabi, Mohamed Bentalha, Said Koubrat, Abdul Salam Moussaoui, and many others from various backgrounds, illustrating the rich tapestry of contemporary poetry.
