Morocco's Impressive Leap in Global Reputation

The Kingdom of Morocco has secured an impressive 27th position globally among the 74 nations evaluated in the RepCore Nations 2026 ranking, which assesses countries based on their international reputation. This marks a significant improvement, as Morocco has advanced three spots since the 2025 ranking, establishing itself as the leading nation in Africa and the Arab world concerning international reputation. This remarkable ascent can be attributed to various positive factors that have enhanced Morocco's image abroad, showcasing its cultural richness and economic potential.

According to the consulting and analytical firm Reputation Lab, Morocco's reputation enhancement is largely due to improvements in several key indicators, including technological perception, public resource management, and the international performance of Moroccan athletes. These factors play a crucial role in shaping how Morocco is viewed on the global stage, contributing to a more favorable image that resonates with international audiences.

Regional Leadership and Economic Impact

Regionally, Morocco outpaces notable countries such as Egypt (38th), the United Arab Emirates (40th), Kuwait (44th), Saudi Arabia (51st), and Algeria (52nd). By climbing from 30th to 27th place in the global rankings, Morocco is now recognized as the most reputable African and Arab nation for the year 2026, based on data collected from 124,014 evaluations across 36 countries. The ranking authors note that an increase of just one point in reputation corresponds to an average increase of 7.2% in tourism revenue and a 1% rise in foreign direct investment (FDI).

In Morocco, the tourism sector has witnessed a substantial improvement of 15.9% during the first six months of 2026. According to figures from the Office des Changes, travel receipts reached 64.89 billion dirhams (MMDH), while net FDI flows also showed a positive trend, increasing by 31.5% during the same period to stand at 26.161 MMDH. This economic growth not only reflects the enhanced reputation but also indicates the potential for further development in various sectors.

The methodology employed in the RepCore Nations ranking takes into account 22 criteria that span economic, political, social, cultural, and environmental aspects, along with the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and public opinion from G7 countries (United States, United Kingdom, Germany, Canada, France, Italy, and Japan). This comprehensive approach allows for a nuanced evaluation of the factors influencing a country's brand image overseas, reflecting its ability to garner trust and respect from the international community.

Globally, Japan leads the ranking, achieving a remarkable performance by climbing seven places in just one year, followed by Canada (2nd), Switzerland (3rd), Australia (4th), and Denmark (5th). The top ten is rounded out by Norway (6th), Italy (7th), Finland (8th), New Zealand (9th), and Sweden (10th). Among the 60 economies assessed, 43 have experienced a decline in their reputation compared to 2025, while only 14 have made gains, and a mere three have maintained their positions without fluctuations.
