On September 2, 2026, the Diplomatic Foundation hosted its 157th Diplomatic Forum in Rabat, featuring the participation of Nadia Fettah, Morocco's Minister of Economy and Finance, alongside ambassadors and representatives from over 60 countries and international organizations. This edition was centered on the theme: "The Moroccan Economy and International Partnerships: What New Levers for Investment and Global Sustainable Development?" This gathering underscores the growing importance of economic diplomacy in enhancing Morocco's position within the global economic framework, while also opening new avenues for investment and international partnerships.
The Role of Investment in Economic Resilience
This forum is part of a series of events organized by the Diplomatic Foundation, aimed at highlighting the development projects and strategic initiatives implemented by Morocco, while also anticipating the challenges and issues of the upcoming phase. Minister Fettah outlined various reforms and initiatives undertaken by the Kingdom to bolster the attractiveness of the national economy and establish the foundations for a more competitive and sustainable growth trajectory.
Initially, she focused on the implementation of the new Investment Charter, the improvement of the business climate, the encouragement of private investment, the development of public-private partnerships, and the strategic direction of investments toward high-value-added sectors. The Minister emphasized that the deployment of the new Investment Charter is a fundamental lever for stimulating private investment by accelerating the execution of investment projects, enhancing the business climate, and channeling investments into priority and high-value sectors.
Despite facing a challenging international backdrop characterized by multiple crises and geopolitical tensions, the Moroccan economy has demonstrated remarkable resilience, attributable to ongoing reforms and the maintenance of macroeconomic balances, complemented by increased investment and competitiveness within the national economy. Minister Fettah asserted that Morocco continues to maintain its strong appeal to international investors, supported by a combination of integrated factors, foremost among which are political stability, modern infrastructure, economic openness, and the availability of skilled human resources.
In his opening remarks, Abdelati Habek, President of the Diplomatic Foundation, stated that the organization of this forum is central to the institution's efforts to promote a culture of dialogue and openness, and to strengthen the role of parallel diplomacy as an effective tool for fostering constructive cooperation and enhancing communication bridges between the accredited diplomatic corps in the Kingdom and various political and institutional partners and stakeholders. Mr. Habek highlighted that Morocco has solidified its position as a regional economic and investment platform over recent years, leveraging its strategic geographic location, infrastructure, a network of free trade agreements with various international markets, and the political and institutional stability that constitutes a key pillar of its attractiveness for investments.
