Dakhla Airport Sees Record Growth of 45%: A Catalyst for Tourism and Investment

Dakhla Airport's Expanding Role in Economic Development

The Dakhla Airport has recently reported a remarkable increase in passenger traffic, achieving a growth of 45.2% in August alone. This surge not only reinforces the airport's strategic importance in enhancing the economic and tourism landscape of the Dakhla-Oued Ed-Dahab region but also builds upon the previous year's record figures. In 2025, the airport welcomed approximately 346,082 passengers, marking an impressive rise of 11.89% compared to 2024. The ongoing upward trend reflects the airport's significant role as a facilitator for both local and international travel, making the region increasingly attractive to visitors and investors alike.

The airport's infrastructure now accommodates around 300,000 passengers annually and includes a specialized terminal for business aviation and private flights, designed to handle the increasing influx of tourists. This expansion aligns with the Moroccan government's efforts to promote tourism and investment in the Sahara region, capitalizing on Dakhla's unique geographical advantages.

Connecting Morocco with the World

Dakhla Airport serves as a vital link between Morocco and various international destinations. It operates four weekly flights to Paris, along with two weekly flights to both Madrid and Las Palmas in Spain. Furthermore, domestic travel has seen a boost with two daily flights connecting the Oued Ed-Dahab capital to Casablanca throughout the week, supplemented by four weekly flights to Agadir, three to the capital Rabat, and two weekly flights to Marrakech. This extensive network not only enhances accessibility but also promotes Dakhla as a key player in Morocco's broader tourism strategy, encouraging more travelers to explore the natural beauty and cultural richness of the region.
