Fes Police Take Down Organized Crime Ring
In a significant operation, the anti-gang unit of the Fes police has successfully apprehended four individuals, including one woman, who were suspected of orchestrating attacks on cargo trucks and vehicles throughout the Fes-Meknes region. This decisive action was made possible thanks to intelligence provided by the Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DST).
The police operation led to the arrest of three suspects in the Ben Soudah neighborhood, while the fourth was captured in the Ras El Ma area in collaboration with the Royal Gendarmerie. According to reports, three members of this criminal group had been released from prison in April after serving seven-year sentences for previous offenses.
The suspects reportedly employed tactics to intercept vehicles on downhill slopes and curves, seizing their cargo. It is suspected that the detained woman was involved in luring certain drivers to stop before they were attacked.
Furthermore, a search of one of the suspects' storage facilities uncovered tons of various goods, including food items, jewelry, and pharmaceutical products intended for sale in local shops.
All detained individuals are currently under police custody, while investigations continue under the supervision of the relevant public prosecutor's office to identify any additional suspects and to uncover further details surrounding this case.
