Marrakech Police Arrest Suspect in Extortion Case Following Viral Video

On the afternoon of Tuesday, March 24, law enforcement officials from the judicial police in Marrakech successfully apprehended a 39-year-old individual with a criminal background, under suspicion of involvement in a case of extortion and threats involving violence. This arrest came in the wake of a video that circulated widely on social media, documenting the incident.

The intelligence services had detected the video, which depicted the suspect attempting to extort an expatriate citizen within the historic area of Marrakech. Initial investigations revealed that the police had not received any official complaints or reports regarding this incident prior to the video’s emergence.

As a result, a judicial inquiry was initiated under the supervision of the public prosecutor's office. Subsequent investigations led to the identification and apprehension of the suspect in the suburbs of Marrakech. He is now undergoing interrogation to uncover all the circumstances surrounding the case and to determine the motives behind his actions.
