Moroccan Clubs Secure Places in Continental Group Stages

In a triumphant display of talent and resilience, Moroccan football clubs have successfully secured their places in the group stages of continental competitions, with the Royal Army Club qualifying for the CAF Confederation Cup and FUS Rabat advancing to the CAF Champions League. They join Raja Casablanca, who had already progressed to the next round.

Royal Army Club Claims its Ticket

The Royal Army Club advanced to the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup following a thrilling 2-1 victory over Ivorian side Korhogo at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat on Sunday evening. The match, which was the return leg of the second preliminary round, saw the military team secure its qualification with a total aggregate score of 2-1.

Youssef El Fahli opened the scoring with a penalty in the sixth minute, followed by Anas Bach who netted the second goal in the 84th minute, while Ivorian player Beranger Débi scored a consolation goal for Korhogo. The Royal Army Club had previously drawn 0-0 in the first leg played in Ivory Coast, making this victory crucial for their progress.

FUS Rabat Returns to the Group Stage

In the CAF Champions League, FUS Rabat secured its spot in the group stage after a hard-fought 2-1 win against Ivorian club ASEC Mimosas on Sunday evening at the Félix Houphouët-Boigny Stadium in Abidjan. This match was also the return leg of the second preliminary round, showcasing an intense competition with FUS demonstrating better organization and a fighting spirit, despite the pre-match pressures.

The first half was evenly matched, but FUS Rabat broke the deadlock in the 62nd minute. ASEC Mimosas equalized through Bakary Kevin in the 73rd minute, only for Khalid Baba to score a dramatic last-minute winner in the 90+7 minute, sealing a valuable away victory for his team. With this win, FUS Rabat qualified for the group stage with a total aggregate score of 3-2, following a 1-1 draw in the first leg held at the Municipal Stadium in Meknes. This marks FUS Rabat's return to the prestigious continental competition after a 14-year absence.
