Morocco's Ambitious Economic Relations with the United States Highlighted in Miami Event

On October 23, 2026, Morocco reaffirmed its ambition to transform Moroccan-American political excellence into a sustainable driver for economic prosperity during a business meeting held in Miami. This event, which gathered around fifty economic actors, business leaders, investors, and representatives from American institutions, was part of the inaugural "Morocco Days in Miami" event organized by the Moroccan Consulate in Miami from October 22 to 24.

In his address at the event, Morocco's Ambassador to the United States, Youssef Amrani, emphasized that two and a half centuries of friendship between Morocco and the United States have established an "exceptional relationship." He stated that the shared ambition today is to translate this historical and strategic depth into economic terms that reflect its tremendous potential.

Ambassador Amrani highlighted that the Moroccan-American partnership is entering a new phase of development, driven by aligned strategic interests, growing economic integration, and a shared political will to give a new dimension to bilateral cooperation. He noted that thanks to the visionary leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI and former President Donald Trump, the trajectory for enhancing economic relations is clearly defined: to elevate them to a distinguished partnership that matches the ambition, robustness, and strategic dimensions of the longstanding political ties between the two nations.

He pointed out that this ambition holds special significance in 2026, coinciding with the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence and Moroccan-American friendship, as well as the twentieth anniversary of the Free Trade Agreement between the two countries, which remains the only such agreement the United States has with an African nation. These milestones reflect the depth of a unique relationship that has been rooted since Morocco recognized U.S. independence and has been fortified across generations through continuous political trust, tested strategic solidarity, and an expanding network of mutual interests.

In addition to the symbolic significance and historical depth, the ambassador particularly stressed the necessity of converting the benefits of this exceptional partnership into new drivers for development, investment, and shared competitiveness. He noted that this ambition finds a natural extension in the deep economic and industrial transformation taking place in Morocco, which opens new horizons for collaboration with American companies. He pointed out that many prominent actors are leading this dynamic, where women entrepreneurs, managers, and investors are asserting their roles as driving forces for innovation, value creation, and economic convergence between the two nations.

Ambassador Amrani emphasized that in a world where trust has become a strategic resource, Morocco offers American businesses more than just a market or a gateway to Africa; it presents itself as a stable partner providing a competitive platform with long-term industrial ambitions. He highlighted the strategic alignment between U.S. priorities concerning supply chain security, industrial diversification, and access to critical minerals, and the economic choices adopted by Morocco.

He pointed out that the achievements launched in sectors such as aviation, critical minerals, agriculture, energy, and technology attest to a reality that is firmly established today, which is that "Moroccan-American cooperation now possesses the necessary political, institutional, and industrial foundations to transition to a new phase."

In her remarks, the Moroccan Consul General in Miami, Shafika El Habti, underscored the growing role of Florida as a distinctive space for economic and humanitarian convergence between Morocco and the United States. She highlighted the vibrant Moroccan community residing in Florida and the "promising prospects" that enhancing exchanges between economic actors in both countries, particularly in investment, innovation, and trade, offers.

In this context, she reiterated the commitment of the consular network to support entrepreneurial initiatives, facilitate relationships, and contribute to making Miami a platform for new economic integration between Morocco and the American market. Similarly, Ismail Lamghari, Secretary General for Moroccans Living Abroad, emphasized the strategic position held by Moroccans worldwide in the kingdom's economic transformation dynamic.

He underscored that the Moroccan competencies residing abroad, alongside their traditional contributions to the national economy, today represent a real lever for influence, investment, and expertise transfer. He emphasized the importance of strengthening the bridges between the talents of the Moroccan diaspora and the new opportunities offered by the kingdom, in line with the enlightened vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, which sees Moroccans around the world as active participants in national development.

This meeting featured a presentation by the Moroccan Agency for Investment and Export Development, which comprehensively outlined the investment opportunities available in the kingdom, its competitive advantages, and the reforms initiated to enhance the attractiveness of the business environment in the country. American participants were able to gain a better understanding of the Moroccan market's potential and identify new pathways for economic and industrial partnerships through this presentation, which highlighted the diversity of industrial systems, quality infrastructure, investor support mechanisms, and the prospects opened by major structural projects in the kingdom.
