Morocco’s Blue Project Delivers Hope to 19 Rescued Dogs in Moaña
The Blue Project, spearheaded by Laura Soliño, the president of the Protectora de Animais do Morrazo, alongside her colleague Beatriz Arévalo, has successfully completed a remarkable mission. This past weekend, 19 dogs from Tangier, Morocco, arrived at the Broullón shelter in Moaña, marking a significant milestone in their journey toward new lives. These animals were previously housed in precarious conditions at a shelter in Morocco, and now they are receiving much-needed care and attention, with hopes of finding loving adoptive families.
The rescued canines include a variety of names such as Chef, Omar, Tánger, Boubchaib, Fatiha, Salma, Eshaouira, Talha, Asilah, Meri, Amore, Abuelita, Rosana, Argana, Laura, Rabat, Drama, Lord Jask, and Negra. They join Azul, the dog that inspired the inception of this project. "During my vacation in March, I met Azul," Soliño recounts, explaining how this furry friend was the first to arrive at the shelter, with another dog named Farala following soon after and finding a home in the Canary Islands.
The process of relocating these dogs was anything but straightforward. Soliño noted that the team anticipated it would take between six to seven months to complete all necessary arrangements. The return journey culminated in the early hours of Sunday, with 13 dedicated volunteers who traveled to Morocco the previous week to facilitate the rescue. Due to logistical constraints, the volunteers had to leave their other vehicles in Tarifa (Cádiz) and used a ferry to return with the dogs, demonstrating their commitment to this noble cause.
This significant endeavor was entirely funded by private donations, showcasing the powerful impact of community support for animal welfare. The Blue Project is a shining example of compassion and dedication, bringing hope and new beginnings to these animals who will now have the chance to thrive in a loving environment.
