Three Arrested After Attempted Murder of Taxi Driver in Marrakech

Arrests Made Following Disturbing Incident in Marrakech

In a shocking turn of events in Marrakech, Morocco, local police have apprehended three suspects linked to a horrific crime involving the attempted murder of a taxi driver. The suspects are accused of robbing the driver, imprisoning him in the trunk of his vehicle, and then setting his car ablaze in a gruesome attempt to take his life. Among those arrested is a minor, just 15 years old, highlighting the alarming involvement of youth in serious criminal activities.

On Sunday, October 25th, law enforcement officials from the unit dedicated to combating gang crime conducted the arrests. The suspects face serious charges, including armed robbery, intentional arson, and attempted murder. One of the individuals has previously been in trouble with the law, raising concerns about repeat offenses among young offenders.

The investigation was initiated following a report from another victim who, just days earlier, was lured to a remote location under the pretense of using an unauthorized ride-sharing app. Once there, he was threatened with a knife and had his personal belongings, including his motorcycle, stolen. With the help of technical investigations and local intelligence, police were able to identify and arrest the primary suspects. The involvement of the 15-year-old suspect came to light subsequently, leading to his arrest as well.

Further inquiries revealed suspicions that these suspects were also involved in the attack on the taxi driver. Reports suggest that the driver was lured to the rural outskirts of Saada, located on the outskirts of Marrakech. After the robbery, the assailants allegedly locked him in the trunk of his vehicle and set it on fire, intending to kill him. Fortunately, details regarding how the taxi driver escaped the fire or whether he sustained injuries have not been disclosed.

The police continue to investigate the extent of each suspect's involvement in both incidents and whether they are linked to any other criminal activities in the area. The community remains on edge as authorities work to ensure public safety and bring those responsible to justice.
