El Al Delays Flights from Tel Aviv to Marrakech, Morocco Until December 15

El Al Airlines Postpones Flights Between Tel Aviv and Marrakech

On October 25, 2026, it has been announced that the scheduled air connection between Tel Aviv and Marrakech, Morocco, has faced another setback. El Al, the national airline of Israel, has decided to postpone the commencement of flights operated by its subsidiary, Sun d’Or, and has canceled all planned departures until December 15, 2026. Travelers who have existing bookings are now entitled to request a full refund or opt for an alternative travel arrangement. Sun d’Or is offering three options for affected passengers: a complete refund, a voucher for future travel, or a ticket to another European destination. For those choosing the latter, there will be no additional charges for price differences or airport taxes.

Impact on Travelers and Future Operations

The alternatives provided by Sun d’Or apply to flights within three days before or after the original departure date, subject to seat availability. The decision to suspend these flights comes as a direct response to new regulations imposed by Israeli security authorities, particularly affecting airlines that operate chartered flights and utilize foreign crews. The tightening of these regulations follows an incident that occurred on September 30 during a Flydubai flight between Dubai and Tel Aviv.

In addition to El Al, other Israeli airlines, including Israir and Arkia, have also made adjustments to their flight schedules to Marrakech. Israir announced on October 13 that it would freeze its plans to increase flight frequencies to the city, while Arkia halted the sale of new tickets on October 21, despite having resumed flights to Marrakech since August.

The future of Sun d’Or’s operations now hinges on approvals from Israeli security authorities, with a potential new launch date remaining uncertain. This is particularly significant as the direct connections between Israel and Morocco had only recently resumed after a prolonged hiatus, and the cancellations are likely to impact travel plans for many. Travelers and the tourism sector in Morocco, which has been eagerly anticipating the return of Israeli tourists, now face further uncertainty as the situation develops.
