Arrest of Suspects in Marrakech Arson Case
In a significant development in Marrakech, Morocco, local authorities have apprehended three individuals, including a 15-year-old minor, suspected of involvement in a violent incident that involved attempting to kill a driver and setting his vehicle on fire. This arrest took place on Sunday, October 25, 2026, thanks to the diligent efforts of the Anti-Gang Unit of the Marrakech Security Directorate. The police initiated an investigation following a complaint filed by the victim last Wednesday. In his statement, the victim accused two individuals of luring him using an unlicensed ride-hailing application, subsequently threatening him with a knife and stealing his personal belongings, including his motorcycle. Further technical investigations and field inquiries led to the identification and arrest of the main suspects, along with the minor who allegedly participated in this criminal activity.
Continuing their investigation, law enforcement agencies uncovered evidence linking the suspects to another case, where they allegedly enticed a taxi driver to the rural area of "Saidah" near Marrakech. There, they reportedly subjected him to robbery and confinement in the trunk of the vehicle, also attempting to kill him by setting his car ablaze. The three suspects are currently undergoing judicial investigation under the supervision of the public prosecutor, who aims to uncover all circumstances surrounding this alarming incident and establish the full extent of the alleged criminal activities.
