Celebrating Cultural Diversity at the 29th Fes Festival of World Sacred Music

On the evening of Friday, June 5, 2026, the historic Bab Makina venue in Fes will host one of the most significant performances of the 29th edition of the Fes Festival of World Sacred Music. This exceptional artistic event will celebrate the richness and diversity of women's musical and spiritual expressions from both Eastern and Western traditions.

This artistic evening will feature prominent female voices from various cultural and spiritual backgrounds, creating a cross-border musical encounter that reflects the festival's core message of dialogue between civilizations and cultures through the universal language of art and music.

The audience will have the opportunity to experience the extraordinary performance of Lebanese artist Ghada Shbeir, renowned for her distinctive interpretation of Eastern spiritual heritage. She will present a selection of hymns inspired by Syriac and Armenian traditions, offering a profound artistic experience that evokes deep human and spiritual dimensions.

Additionally, Moroccan artist Nabila Maan will grace the evening with her performance of pieces derived from Arabic and Hebrew Andalusian heritage, reflecting the shared memory that shaped Andalusian civilization and contributed to building bridges of coexistence and cultural exchange among peoples.

From India, the festival will welcome first-time participant Kaushiki Chakraborty, who will present examples of the 'Dhrupad' style associated with Indian classical music. This form is characterized by its rich melodic structures and precise vocal performance, showcasing the depth of Indian musical traditions.

The European presence will be represented by the German ensemble 'Bodies,' led by artist and producer Kati Franke. They will deliver a performance that emphasizes vocal diversity and collective harmony, merging contemporary musical creativity with modern and classical styles.

This evening will take on a special character with the participation of the Ahouach Isafen group from the High Atlas region, creating an artistic encounter that combines authentic Moroccan heritage with global musical experiences, providing the audience with exceptional moments of interaction and cultural diversity.

This event reaffirms the Fes Festival of World Sacred Music's position as a space for artistic and spiritual dialogue, serving as a global platform that celebrates cultural plurality and the values of openness and coexistence among peoples.
