Recognizing Healthcare Innovators and AI Developers at GITEX Future Health in Africa

Casablanca, Morocco, May 7, 2026: The inaugural edition of **GITEX Future Health in Africa Morocco** concluded yesterday, spotlighting a promising generation of healthcare innovators and technology developers who are redefining the future of healthcare services across the African continent. From AI-supported health mapping platforms to startups focusing on health technology, the innovation competitions held during the event highlighted the growing role of emerging technologies in expanding access to healthcare, enhancing preventive models, and fostering the development of more resilient health systems capable of addressing the continent's needs.

**GITEX Future Health in Africa Morocco** is organized under the high patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, in partnership with the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, the Mohammed VI Foundation for Science and Health, and KAOUN International, the global organizer of GITEX events. The final day featured the finals and award ceremony for the international startup pitch competition, the Supernova Challenge, which celebrates healthcare solutions with significant impact and high value.

The awards ceremony, held on the main stage of the event, showcased a number of startups developing advanced technologies in areas such as digital health, AI-supported diagnostics, preventive care, data platforms, and health innovations driven by patient needs. This competition reflects the increasing dynamism within the healthcare innovation ecosystem in Africa, as startups rapidly move toward developing scalable technologies tailored to the region's healthcare realities and infrastructure needs.

In this context, Moroccan company Blink Pharma secured first place during the Supernova Challenge Awards, underscoring the strength of Moroccan innovation in the health technology sector within the broader continental framework. Dr. Ali Sami, CEO of Blink Pharma, expressed pride in the achievement, stating: "We are very proud that Blink Pharma won this award; however, what truly matters to us, beyond the award itself, is the opportunity we had to participate in GITEX Future Health in Africa Morocco. This event gave us a strong presence and allowed us to meet numerous partners while helping us build valuable relationships with key players essential for our growth. This recognition means a lot to us as it reflects the work of an entire team and rewards the collective efforts of individuals committed to advancing healthcare within a highly regulated environment."

This recognition further solidifies GITEX Future Health in Africa Morocco's role as a platform connecting healthcare startups with investors, decision-makers, industry leaders, and global health ecosystems capable of accelerating the innovation pathway from local implementation to international expansion.

The day prior saw the conclusion of the LovAfrica Buildathon, following an intensive collaborative challenge focused on addressing the invisible gaps in healthcare through AI and easily accessible digital technologies. Participants were invited to design practical solutions capable of identifying, predicting, and highlighting gaps related to chronic diseases and access to healthcare, both in Morocco and broader African markets.

Participants developed practical prototypes using AI and open data to address critical health priorities, including enhancing the clarity of data related to chronic diseases, reducing regional disparities in healthcare, developing preventive detection, and improving patient access to services. Ideas presented varied from disease risk mapping to early warning systems, AI-supported health screening tools, and platforms designed to identify areas lacking sufficient healthcare services.

Noor Al-Huda Hassari won first prize in the LovAfrica Buildathon, while second place was jointly awarded to Fatima Zahra Amsaloukh, Fahim Mohamed Aziz, and Sara Al-Hour. The third prize went to Ashraf Al-Hamrawi for presenting innovative concepts in healthcare supported by AI, designed to facilitate more proactive, data-driven health planning and enhance early intervention strategies.

Noor Al-Huda Hassari commented, "Our project is a platform aimed at aggregating African medical research, which we believe is crucial for improving healthcare outcomes across the continent."
