Unveiling the Marrakech Short Film Festival
The Marrakech Short Film Festival (MARRAKECHsFF), established in 2020, serves as an international platform dedicated to short films, aiming to forge connections between diverse cinematic cultures, audiences, and emerging talents. This festival is renowned for its public screenings and its commitment to fostering the circulation of cinematic works, thereby continuing its mission to enhance the visibility of short films both within Morocco and beyond. The sixth edition of this distinguished festival is scheduled to take place from September 25 to September 30, 2026, in the vibrant city of Marrakech.
Following an enriching series of encounters, exchanges, and celebrations centered around short films, the MARRAKECHsFF Best Of program marks a new phase in its journey, dedicated to promoting cultural works initiated by the Marrakech Short Film Festival. This program is designed to extend the festival's influence beyond its official dates, as it continues its longstanding mission of promoting short films, facilitating their movement across Morocco and internationally, and creating new spaces for interaction between cinematic works, their creators, and audiences.
A Cultural Odyssey Across Borders
The journey began in Marrakech and has since traversed various spaces and regions—from Palestine to Jordan, passing through Italy and Casablanca, along with other venues fostering cultural dialogue. Each screening paints a vivid map of encounters surrounding the realm of short cinema. To conclude this remarkable journey, the Marrakech Short Film Festival is set to engage with audiences on June 5 at 7 PM in Paris, in partnership with the historic Cinéma Grand Action, one of the most prominent and esteemed cinema halls in the French capital.
This exceptional evening will feature the festival team and showcase a selection of short films previously screened at the festival's past editions, including:
– Beneath a Mother’s Feet by director Elias Suhail, winner of the Best Performance award for Nirsin Adam Bahja
– Milk Brothers by director Kenza El Tazi, winner of the Best Film award
– Lady of the Graves by director Mohamed Alalali, a jury commendation
– The Crawling Birds by director Karim Taj, one of the films recognized in the low-budget film category.
Additionally, the programming will place special emphasis on films produced and supported by the Marrakech Short Film Festival, reaffirming its ongoing commitment to nurturing and promoting new cinematic voices. Through this final stop in Paris, MARRAKECHsFF reiterates its desire to facilitate the travel of films, enhance their presence and dissemination, and build sustainable bridges between geography, imagination, and the audience.
