Legal Victory for Fes Community Leader
On March 10, 2026, the Criminal Chamber of the Court of Appeals in Fes delivered a final ruling acquitting the president of a rural community in the province of Oujda Angad from charges of misappropriation of public funds. The verdict was announced during a public and in-person session, where the court decided not to hold the defendant accountable while imposing the court costs on the public treasury.
The investigation into the case began last October, when the investigating judge referred the file to the primary criminal court, where the community leader faced accusations of embezzlement and mismanagement of public funds. Despite this ruling of innocence, the legal troubles for the community president are not over, as he is currently under investigation for separate allegations concerning money laundering, which are being examined by the Money Laundering Crimes Chamber of the primary court.
