Dismantling of a Major International Drug Trafficking Network in Oran
The regional service for combating organized crime in Oran has successfully dismantled a sophisticated international criminal network whose operations extend from Morocco to Europe. This significant crackdown led to the seizure of approximately 84 kilograms of hard drugs, specifically cocaine, and the arrest of 13 individuals associated with this illicit operation, as reported by the General Directorate of National Security.
According to the official statement, a month-long investigation involving field inquiries and operational research allowed the investigators to thwart a planned shipment of synthetic drugs. In the initial phase of the operation, two members of the network were apprehended in Oran while attempting to transport 3 kilograms and 457 grams of cocaine, which was cleverly concealed within a tourist vehicle.
Further developments in the investigation led to the identification and arrest of 11 additional members of the network. This resulted in the confiscation of a second batch of hard drugs weighing 80 kilograms, also meticulously hidden within a vehicle. The operation, conducted under the supervision of the relevant judicial authority, also yielded substantial financial gains, including 147 million Algerian dinars alongside various amounts in euros and Moroccan dirhams. Additionally, ten vehicles and one motorcycle, utilized for illegal activities, were confiscated.
On May 6, 2026, the suspects were presented to the Public Prosecutor at the specialized penal court in Oran, highlighting the authorities' commitment to tackling organized crime and drug trafficking in the region.
