Ecuador National Team Prepares for World Cup: Moisés Caicedo Joins Training Camp

The Ecuadorian national football team has embarked on its training journey in Spain as of Monday, March 23, 2026, with the majority of the selected players present for the upcoming friendlies that form part of the preparation for the 2026 World Cup. Under the guidance of coach Sebastián Beccacece, the team commenced their activities with a thorough assessment of each player’s fitness and readiness.

One notable player who has already joined the training camp is Moisés Caicedo, a midfielder currently with Chelsea FC. Caicedo is in anticipation of clarifying whether he will be eligible to participate in Ecuador's opening match of the World Cup, as he is currently under suspension. The talented midfielder is eager to get playing time in the friendly matches scheduled against Morocco on March 27 and the Netherlands on March 31.

Coach Beccacece is also awaiting the arrival of key players such as Piero Hincapié and Enner Valencia, which will allow him to start solidifying the team’s lineup. The coach aims to evaluate all 34 players called up for this FIFA preparation window, making this training camp one of the last opportunities to finalize the squad before the definitive concentration leading up to the World Cup.

On Tuesday, March 24, the expectation is to have the entire squad present, enabling the coaching staff to conduct a full training session and practice football tactics with the complete group. Fans will have the chance to watch the upcoming match live on Teleamazonas, available nationwide.
