El Salvador to Clash with Qatar on June 6 in Los Angeles
The El Salvador national football team, known as La Selecta, is scheduled to face Qatar in a friendly match on June 6, 2026, in Los Angeles. The Moroccan Football Federation officially notified the Salvadoran Football Federation (FESFUT) that they would not have their full squad available for the game, leading to the cancellation. However, FESFUT declined this offer due to FIFA regulations that prevent a national team from playing in two different continents during the same FIFA match window, and also because El Salvador had already scheduled two friendlies during that period.
Yamil Bukele, the president of FESFUT, explained that while they would have welcomed the opportunity to play against Morocco, logistical and regulatory constraints made it unfeasible. Instead, the focus has shifted to the upcoming match against Qatar, which will take place without television coverage, a decision made by Qatari football authorities as confirmed by FESFUT.
