Exciting New Air Transat Flight Connects Montreal to Agadir, Morocco

Morocco Welcomes New Non-Stop Air Transat Service to Agadir

The Moroccan National Tourism Office (MNTO) recently marked a significant milestone with the announcement of Air Transat's new direct flight service connecting Montreal (YUL) to Agadir (AGA), set to launch on June 12, 2026. This inaugural flight is not just a new route; it symbolizes the blossoming relationship between Morocco and the Canadian travel market. The launch event took place at the scenic Vieux Port in Montreal, gathering representatives from the MNTO, Air Transat, local tourism partners, hoteliers from Agadir, as well as Canadian tour operators and travel advisors. The event highlighted the strong ties and shared cultural values that bind Morocco and Canada, fostering a sense of community and collaboration in the tourism sector.

Strengthening Tourism Connections Between Canada and Morocco

Among the attendees was Her Excellency Souriya Otmani, the Moroccan Ambassador to Canada, who acknowledged the importance of this new connection. Siham Fettouhi, the MNTO's Executive Director for North America, emphasized that the new flight not only represents a strategic advancement for Moroccan tourism but also enhances the cultural exchange between the two nations. With Agadir becoming more accessible than ever before, the MNTO is eager to welcome a greater influx of Canadian travelers eager to explore the enchanting Moroccan coastline. This new route is especially significant as it marks the first-ever non-stop flight between Montreal and Agadir, providing Canadian travelers with direct access to one of Morocco's premier coastal destinations.

This weekly service, operating every Friday, is expected to bolster Agadir's status as a central hub for international tourism. The MNTO has reported a remarkable increase in Canadian visitors to Morocco, with 258,304 arrivals recorded in 2025 alone, a 29% rise from 2024. The positive trend is continuing into 2026, with an 8% increase noted by the end of April, showcasing Morocco's growing popularity among Canadian travelers.

The introduction of the Montreal–Agadir service further enhances the air connectivity between Morocco and Canada, complementing Air Transat’s existing seasonal non-stop flights to Marrakech. This expanded service allows Canadian travelers increased flexibility in their travel plans, enabling them to experience multiple destinations within Morocco seamlessly, such as combining stays in both Marrakech and Agadir.

Fettouhi remarked on the importance of Canada as a burgeoning market for Moroccan tourism, highlighting Agadir's potential as a rising destination. By connecting Canadians to the diverse and rich experiences Morocco has to offer, the MNTO aims to inspire even more travelers to discover the wonders of this beautiful country.
