Fes Hospital Achieves 450 Cardiac Catheterization Procedures, Enhancing Specialized Care

The Alghassani Regional Hospital in Fes has marked a significant medical achievement by successfully performing approximately 450 cardiac catheterization procedures over the past eighteen months. This accomplishment was made possible through its specialized unit for cardiovascular diseases, reflecting a substantial advancement in regional healthcare services. The utilization of advanced techniques, such as intravascular imaging, combined with the expertise of the medical and nursing staff at the hospital, has been pivotal in this progress.

The regional health and social protection department confirmed that this advancement has played a crucial role in saving numerous lives, particularly those suffering from acute myocardial infarction. Timely and precise emergency interventions have facilitated the opening of blocked arteries, significantly reducing the need for open-heart surgery in many complex cases. This not only improves treatment prospects but also minimizes complications associated with such procedures.

The cardiac catheterization unit, inaugurated in December 2024 at a cost of approximately 16.4 million dirhams, is a product of collaboration between the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, the Fes-Meknes Regional Council, and the “Injad” Association. This project aims to bring healthcare services closer to citizens, reduce waiting times, and enhance the quality of medical care, especially for vulnerable and underprivileged groups.
