French-Algerian TikToker Sentenced to One Year in Prison for Defamation in Morocco

According to reliable sources, the primary court in Marrakech has sentenced the French-Algerian TikToker known as "W.Y." to a year of imprisonment along with a fine of 2000 dirhams on Monday, June 22, 2026. This ruling follows her arrest on suspicions of disseminating digital content that included defamation and insults directed at Moroccan citizens, as well as slander and disrespect towards a public institution governed by law.

As reported by ariffino.net.

The individual in question was previously detained and brought before the court after she published offensive digital content on her TikTok account while in Marrakech. On Saturday, June 13, police at Marrakech Menara Airport arrested the 30-year-old French citizen of Algerian descent for allegedly posting content that included slander and insults against Moroccan citizens, in addition to explicit accusations against public officials regarding bribery and preferential treatment while performing their duties in relation to traffic law enforcement.

This incident sparked a judicial investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor's office, resulting in the issuance of a national search warrant for the individual involved, who was arrested while preparing to board a flight to France.
