On Saturday, June 13, authorities at Marrakech Menara Airport successfully apprehended a 30-year-old French citizen of Algerian descent. She was detained on suspicion of disseminating digital content that included defamation and insults directed towards Moroccan citizens, as well as slander and disrespect towards a public institution governed by law.
The individual in question had posted inflammatory content on her social media accounts, which not only insulted Moroccan citizens but also made explicit accusations against public officials, alleging bribery and preferential treatment in the execution of their duties related to traffic law enforcement.
These criminal actions prompted a judicial investigation overseen by the relevant public prosecutor's office, leading to the issuance of a nationwide search warrant for the suspect. She was arrested on Saturday while preparing to board a flight to France.
The suspect is currently under police custody, as authorities continue their investigation to uncover the true motivations behind her criminal acts. This inquiry is being conducted by the regional judicial police in Marrakech, under the supervision of the appropriate public prosecutor's office.
