Severe Heatwave Expected Across Morocco
Morocco is bracing for an intense heatwave from Sunday to Tuesday, with temperatures soaring to alarming heights, as reported by the General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM). The heatwave is expected to affect several provinces, particularly Zagora, Tata, and Assa-Zag, where temperatures will range between 44°C and 47°C, creating hazardous conditions for residents and visitors alike.
On Monday, the heat will intensify in other regions including Settat, El Kelaa Des Sraghna, Beni Mellal, Fquih Ben Salah, Meknès, Khénifra, Sidi Kacem, Sidi Slimane, and Khouribga, where temperatures are projected to hover between 42°C and 44°C. This brutal heat is not isolated, as from Monday to Tuesday, the provinces of Khémisset, Fès, Moulay Yacoub, Taounate, Ouezzane, and Sefrou will also experience similarly high temperatures, contributing to a widespread discomfort and potential health risks.
Additionally, areas such as Kénitra and Larache will not be spared, with temperatures expected to range from 39°C to 42°C on Monday. Residents are advised to take necessary precautions to safeguard their health during this extreme weather event.
