Illegal Renovation Works Disrupt Peace at Plage David Amid Summer Restrictions

Unlawful Construction Activities Disturb Coastal Serenity

In the picturesque coastal regions between Bouznika and Mansouria, renovation projects are currently underway at a feverish pace, despite a ban on such activities during the summer season. At Plage David, the incessant noise of construction work is ruining the tranquility that local residents cherish. During this peak vacation period, the sound of hammers and drills has turned what should be a serene escape into a cacophony of disturbances. Villagers who seek peace and relaxation find their summer holiday marred by ongoing construction, as some take this time as an opportunity to carry out repairs on their properties, showing little regard for the well-being of their neighbors.

At Plage David, construction activities commence early in the morning, often continuing into weekends, disregarding the legal working hours, as evidenced by videos sent to L’Opinion. This scenario is not uncommon, despite the established regulations prohibiting such works during the summer months. A local elected official confirmed that this rule is part of a municipal order that has been in effect since July 1, 2023, strictly banning all renovation projects in the coastal zones of Mansouria from July 1 to September 15.

Community Outcry and Lack of Enforcement

However, this directive is being blatantly ignored due to the lack of enforcement by municipal authorities. Residents have reported that officials do not respond to complaints or alerts regarding the ongoing disturbances, leading to increased frustration among the community. The situation has persisted for a considerable time, with locals expressing their grievances on social media platforms. Many are advocating for the establishment of a community association to voice their concerns and put an end to the chaos, given the apparent inaction from authorities. The need for effective oversight and accountability is becoming increasingly critical as residents strive to reclaim their peace and restore the charm of their coastal retreat.
