According to a report by Axios, Israel has taken the unprecedented step of deploying its Iron Dome air defense system alongside military forces in the United Arab Emirates. This marks a significant first, as it is the first time such a system has been stationed outside of Israeli territory.
The decision to deploy the Iron Dome came in response to a series of intense attacks from Iranian forces targeting the UAE. The Emirati Ministry of Defense disclosed that these attacks included approximately 550 ballistic and cruise missiles, in addition to over 2,200 drones. This alarming situation prompted Abu Dhabi to urgently seek assistance from its allies to bolster its defense capabilities.
Israeli officials have noted that the Iron Dome has successfully intercepted dozens of aerial threats, showcasing its effectiveness in safeguarding the region. Concurrently, the Israeli Air Force has conducted strikes aimed at missile sites in southern Iran, with the objective of diminishing the frequency of attacks and preventing future strikes on Gulf nations.
