Kicking Off GITEX Africa Technology Exhibition in Morocco with Turkish Participation

GITEX Africa Technology Exhibition Opens in Marrakech

The fourth edition of the GITEX Africa Technology Exhibition was inaugurated in Marrakech, Morocco, on Tuesday, marking a significant event in the global technology landscape. This year, the exhibition features participation from 1,450 exhibitors and startups hailing from 130 countries, with a notable presence of Turkish companies, showcasing advancements in technology and innovation.

Moroccan Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch, during his opening speech, emphasized the kingdom's strategic approach to harnessing the power of artificial intelligence, stating that Morocco aims to control this technological revolution rather than succumb to it. He highlighted the country's commitment to technological sovereignty and innovation, positioning Morocco as a reliable platform for high-value infrastructure and scientific research.

Significance of AI and Global Collaboration

In her address, Moroccan Minister of Digital Transition, Amal Al-Falah, discussed the profound transformations the world is undergoing, reshaping power dynamics not only geographically but also in technological, scientific, military, and economic dimensions. She pointed out two critical factors influencing today's landscape: the resurgence of intense armed conflicts and an unprecedented acceleration in the field of artificial intelligence.

Al-Falah noted that artificial intelligence has transcended its role as a mere technological tool, evolving into a lever for competitiveness and a cornerstone for sovereignty, governance, and regulatory frameworks in a world increasingly characterized by divisions and recurring crises. The GITEX Africa exhibition serves as an extension of GITEX Global held in Dubai, representing the largest global technology and startup exhibition.

Organized by the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform in partnership with the Digital Development Agency, the exhibition not only showcases technological advancements but also fosters international collaboration by bringing together a diverse array of participants and innovations.
