Religious Ceremony at the Ahl Fès Mosque
Rabat – His Majesty King Mohammed VI, in his capacity as Amir Al-Mouminine (Commander of the Faithful), is set to lead the prayer for the blessed Eid Al-Fitr on Friday, March 20, 2026. As officially announced by the Royal Household, Protocol, and Chancellery, the ceremony will take place at the Ahl Fès Mosque located in Mechouar, Rabat. To honor the significance of this occasion for the entire nation, the prayer will be broadcast live on both radio and television starting at 10:00 AM.
The King's prayer marks the spiritual culmination of the Ramadan month of 1447 after the Hijra. While public life largely pauses during the three festive days, private consumption and travel activity in the region see a sharp increase, making Eid Al-Fitr a significant contributor to the Moroccan domestic economy.
This year's celebration is further enhanced by a rare cross-border agreement in the Maghreb region. Following the successful sighting of the crescent moon on the evening of March 19, both Moroccan authorities and religious leaders in Algeria and Tunisia announced the commencement of the festival for the same Friday. This synchronized declaration of the 1st of Shawwal is regarded as a remarkable moment of religious and astronomical harmony among neighboring countries.
