Significant Drug Bust Near Casablanca Airport
On June 5, 2026, the National Brigade of Judicial Police (BNPJ) made a substantial seizure of almost three tons of cannabis resin in Casablanca. This operation took place around midday, where authorities uncovered 2,960 kilograms of cannabis hidden in an abandoned vehicle near Mohammed V International Airport. The operation began in the vicinity of Benslimane, where investigators monitored a vehicle suspected of transporting illegal drugs. The driver, realizing he was being followed, attempted to evade capture by driving against oncoming traffic on the highway. He ultimately abandoned the vehicle close to the airport premises, where police discovered 75 bundles of cannabis skillfully concealed within the car's interior.
