Mohammed Iraqi's Unique Perspective on the 'Lamp' Experience in Moroccan Politics

The Distinctive Journey of the 'Lamp' in Moroccan Political Landscape

Mohammed Iraqi, a prominent member of the National Council of the Justice and Development Party (PJD), has emphasized the unique political experience that the 'Lamp' symbolizes in Morocco, particularly through its exceptional procedures for candidacy and endorsement. In a recent post on his Facebook account, Iraqi highlighted the structured processes that govern the roles of members, organizations, and the party's General Secretariat, which are unparalleled in the Moroccan political sphere. He noted that although the party is not obligated to publicly announce the results of these processes, it remains committed to transparency with both the public and its members.

He acknowledged that while there might be valid criticisms regarding the outcomes of these procedures, it is essential to recognize the complexities involved, including the interplay of authority, adherence to the decisions made during general assemblies, regional committees, and individual aspirations. Iraqi expressed concern over extreme reactions such as accusations of treason or threats of resignation, stating that such behaviors are inconsistent with the values upheld by party members over the past three decades.

Renewal and Inclusivity in the Party's Candidate Lists

As a regional party official, Iraqi pointed out that the candidate lists have undergone significant renewal and opened up to national, regional, and local talents, including youth, artists, media professionals, and women. Despite this, he noted that some individuals harboring deep-seated animosity towards the party continue to cast doubt on its leadership, accusing them of avoiding candidacy in specific circles. He reiterated that had the circumstances been reversed, those same critics would likely have a different narrative.

Iraqi's message was clear: while the Justice and Development Party is not a gathering of angels, it remains the most organized, disciplined, and committed to the regulations governing political parties and electoral processes. He expressed hope that rival parties would engage in constructive competition with the 'Lamp,' while media outlets and analysts would scrutinize its activities within the context of the existing political landscape, challenges, and the available margins of democracy, freedom, integrity, and transparency. This discourse marks a significant moment as the Justice and Development Party recently concluded its candidate selection for the upcoming elections on September 23, 2026, following a series of general assemblies across 91 provinces and 12 regional committees, culminating in five announcements detailing the outcomes of this organizational process.
