Legal Action by a Fan Against Wydad Official
In a notable incident within Moroccan sports, Ryad Tazi, a passionate supporter of the MAS (Maghreb Association Sportive), has officially lodged a complaint with the judicial authorities in Ain Sebaâ against Issam Laasal, a manager affiliated with Wydad Athletic Club. This action stems from an alleged physical assault that Tazi experienced during a postponed match between MAS and Wydad held in Fes, a match that concluded with a narrow victory for the home team, MAS, by a score of 1-0.
Tazi, who was reportedly slapped by Laasal during the match, waited for over a week in hopes that the Wydad official would publicly apologize for his actions, which were captured on video. Unfortunately, Laasal declined to issue an apology, despite attempts from officials of both teams to resolve the matter amicably and put an end to the dispute. Tazi made it clear that he would retract his complaint only upon receiving a formal apology from Laasal. He had previously documented the assault with local security authorities in Fes.
As Laasal remained obstinate in his refusal to apologize—especially with the incident gaining considerable traction on social media, with the video circulating widely—Tazi felt compelled to pursue legal action. He is seeking justice, asserting that the incident has significantly impacted his mental well-being. According to close sources, the video demonstrates a heated exchange between members of both teams in the official stand, culminating in Laasal striking Tazi in a public setting.
It is worth noting that Issam Laasal is relatively new to the management scene at Wydad, lacking extensive experience in sports administration. He has not previously been part of any management team that has won titles with the club. Laasal joined Wydad's management following the election of Hicham Ait Mana as the new president of the club at the beginning of the last sports season.
