Emergency Support Initiative for Transport Professionals
The Moroccan government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Akhannouch, has initiated a new emergency support program aimed at assisting transportation professionals as they navigate the challenges posed by rising fuel prices. This decision comes in response to the persistent increase in oil prices on international markets, which has significantly impacted domestic fuel costs. In a press release issued on March 17, 2026, the government emphasized the necessity of this intervention but did not disclose the budget allocated for this support initiative.
Application Process and Eligible Categories
Starting from March 20, 2026, transportation professionals will be able to submit their applications for this aid through a dedicated online platform, designed to streamline the application process. This mechanism is a continuation of a similar support measure that was implemented in March 2022, aimed at alleviating the financial burden on operators within the transport sector due to escalating energy costs. The government's direct assistance is intended to help maintain the purchasing power of citizens, ensure a steady supply of goods in markets, and uphold the continuity of logistical operations and transport services.
Eligible sectors for this support encompass a wide range of transportation services, including goods transportation, public passenger transport, taxis (both small and large), mixed transport, coaches, and tourism transport, among other segments of the industry. The application process will be entirely digital, allowing for efficient tracking of submissions and their processing.
