Montreal, July 29, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — The Corporation of Strategic Minerals of Morocco (TSXV: MCC) is pleased to announce the results of the analysis stemming from the initial phase sampling programs conducted on its Ouneine and Aït Zekri projects, along with an operational update regarding its portfolio in the Western High Atlas region of Morocco.
Key Highlights
Ouneine: A total of 49 spot samples (excluding blanks and standards) yielded copper grades reaching up to 14.88% Cu and 696 g/t Ag (sample ON-GB 0025). Among these, thirty-seven samples showed at least 1.0% Cu, with eight samples exceeding 5.29% Cu.
Aït Zekri: The program included 23 spot samples (17 from the surface and 5 from an underground gallery) revealing gold concentrations up to 4.16 g/t Au (AZ-GB005). Gold mineralization was confirmed both at the surface and in the historic gallery, notably with a concentration of 2.11 g/t Au in the underground sample AZ-GB020.
MCC has established a dedicated on-site exploration team consisting of two geologists and three technicians through its Moroccan subcontractors, supported by an independent qualified person based in Canada.
Operational Progress and Field Capacity
Through its trusted Moroccan contractors, MCC has developed a full-time field presence overseen by an independent qualified person from Canada. The team continues detailed geological mapping, structural interpretation, and systematic sampling both on the surface and underground. Remediation and safety works have also commenced in certain historic galleries, focusing on drainage, removal of unstable rocks, stability assessments, ventilation improvements, and establishing secondary escape routes in preparation for future drilling of targets identified by the current program.
Furthermore, the company has conducted a high-resolution topographic survey using drone technology over the Ouneine property, complemented by a 3D laser scan of accessible underground galleries. This provides an accurate digital representation of the historic mining infrastructure to support geological and structural mapping, as well as drilling target identification.
At Ouneine, field mapping and prospecting have revealed multiple structurally-controlled copper-bearing zones primarily hosted in carbonate rocks. The mineralization is associated with quartz veins, fault corridors, hydrothermal breccias, and network veins, primarily consisting of malachite, azurite, and chalcocite in oxidized zones, with pyrite, chalcopyrite, bornite, and locally galena and barite observed at the surface. The copper mineralization is spatially linked to E–W and ENE–ESE oriented structures and their intersections with secondary fractures, with a local extension into the surrounding limestone along fractures, stratification planes, and vein networks, indicating a polymetallic hydrothermal system.
In total, 49 surface rock samples were collected from the main mineralized structures of the license. The reported analysis results confirm the presence of high-grade copper mineralization reaching 14.88% Cu (ON-GB0043), with 37 samples showing grades above 1% Cu, including eight samples exceeding 5.29% Cu.
Silver grades reached up to 696 g/t Ag, demonstrating a strong association with copper mineralization.
