ONMT Launches New Aviation Hub with EasyJet in Marrakech

ONMT Expands Air Travel Opportunities with EasyJet's New Base in Marrakech

The Moroccan National Tourism Office (ONMT) has taken a significant step in enhancing its air travel strategy by inaugurating a new EasyJet base in Marrakech. This strategic move involves the deployment of three aircraft, which will provide up to four million seats in the first year alone, significantly boosting tourist inflow to Morocco from key European markets.

This marks the first EasyJet base in Africa, serving as a crucial operational lever for boosting the destination's appeal. With the establishment of this base, the airline aims to offer an expanded flight network that includes six new routes, bringing the total number of connections between Morocco and its main markets to 58. Beginning in winter 2026, EasyJet will introduce new services connecting Prague, Newcastle, and Zurich to Marrakech. Additionally, three more routes linking Nantes to Essaouira, Bordeaux to Agadir, and Birmingham to Agadir are set to launch in the spring of 2026.

Furthermore, several existing routes from Marrakech, including those to Lille, Strasbourg, and Hamburg, will be operated year-round, strengthening the overall connectivity. As a result of these developments, EasyJet will now serve five Moroccan airports: Marrakech, Agadir, Rabat, Essaouira, and Tangier, solidifying its position as the leading carrier from the UK and Switzerland to Morocco, and the third-largest airline operating within the country.

The immediate impact of this new base is palpable. The establishment of this hub is expected to create approximately 100 direct jobs along with numerous indirect employment opportunities, thereby invigorating the local tourism ecosystem.

This initiative aligns with the strategic partnership established between ONMT and EasyJet in the fall of 2025, focused on enhancing Morocco’s connectivity, diversifying its markets, and supporting balanced tourism growth. This partnership also includes the development of EasyJet holidays, featuring over 70 accommodations available in Marrakech.

Since its entry into the Moroccan market in 2006, EasyJet has transported nearly 20 million passengers to the country, playing a vital role in promoting local regions and diversifying the tourism offering. By increasing capacity, stabilizing connections, and broadening market reach, ONMT is fostering conditions for a more structured and sustainable tourism development.
