Rabat Court Upholds Eight-Year Sentences for Child Exploitation in Khémisset

Severe Sentencing for Child Exploitation

The Rabat Court of Appeal has upheld a significant ruling by sentencing two young individuals to eight years each in prison for their involvement in pedophilic crimes against minors in the Khémisset region. These individuals were found guilty of using pedo-pornographic materials as bait to lure children into a horrific cycle of abuse. The court’s decision confirms the initial judgment and is a critical step in addressing child exploitation in Morocco, as reported by fr.le360.ma.

The troubling events transpired on June 8, 2025, when members of the Royal Gendarmerie in Aït Iddine apprehended the two defendants following credible information regarding their involvement in the corruption and sexual assault of minors. After their arrest, they were placed in custody and subsequently presented to the public prosecutor who conducted a preliminary interrogation. The pair faced serious charges, including "sexual assault on minors" and "corruption of minors through deceptive maneuvers."

During the investigation, one of the young victims provided a heart-wrenching account of how their vulnerability was exploited by one of the accused, highlighting the predatory nature of their actions. As the investigation unfolded, more families began to come forward, with initial reluctance to report due to fears of scandal and the psychological impact on their children. Reports suggest that the gravity of these crimes became widely known after a teacher at a local school discovered a student in possession of links to pedo-pornographic content. This discovery prompted immediate action, leading to the involvement of the authorities.

Further inquiries revealed that the student was part of a WhatsApp group comprising dozens of children and adults, where such disturbing content was circulated. The investigation was expedited through effective coordination between gendarmes from multiple regions, culminating in the identification of the suspects who were disseminating these videos to attract and sexually assault children. Subsequent searches of the suspects’ mobile phones and those of other group members uncovered crucial evidence that helped link all involved parties in this deeply disturbing case.
