Rabat Launches Executive Cybersecurity Leadership Program by ANCA-CERT

Enhancing Cybersecurity Leadership in Africa

On June 1st, 2026, the Executive Cybersecurity Leadership Program organized by the ANCA-CERT was officially inaugurated in Rabat. This initiative aims to bolster African cooperation in the realm of cybersecurity while enhancing the leadership capabilities essential for navigating the rapid digital transformation occurring across the continent. The event, running until June 5th, has brought together high-ranking government officials, policymakers, executive leaders, cybersecurity experts, and representatives from various regional and international organizations.

Hosted by ANCA-CERT, the operational body of the African Network of Cybersecurity Authorities (ANCA), with support from the General Directorate of Information Systems Security (DGSSI), this program serves as a strategic platform for exchanging ideas and insights. It seeks to empower African leaders responsible for cybersecurity, promote the sharing of best practices, and encourage a coordinated approach to the increasing challenges within cyberspace. Discussions will focus on critical topics such as cybersecurity governance, digital resilience, cyber crisis management, skill development, and regional and international cooperation. The program is backed by notable institutional partners, including the ITU, CREST, and FIRST, and aligns with the five pillars of the ITU's Global Cybersecurity Index, an international benchmark for assessing state maturity in cybersecurity.

Rabat's Commitment to a Safer Digital Future

This initiative comes at a time when Africa is witnessing an accelerated digital transformation alongside a rise in cybersecurity risks and threats. In addressing these challenges, the development of skills, strengthening national frameworks, and deepening cooperation among African nations are vital components for establishing a more secure, resilient, and prosperous cyberspace. Through this program, Rabat is reaffirming its role as a regional hub for cybersecurity and digital cooperation, contributing actively to the emergence of a more resilient, innovative, and prepared African ecosystem in the face of digital challenges.

This dynamic aligns with the Royal High Directions advocating for a more integrated and resilient Africa that is more in control of its development. It has been further solidified by the approval, during a Council of Ministers meeting presided over by His Majesty the King in Rabat, of an agreement to establish the Regional Cyber Incident Response Support and Coordination Center of ANCA-CERT in the Kingdom, along with a host country agreement regarding the institutional presence of ANCA-CERT in Morocco.
