Stellantis Launches Its First Circular Economy Dismantling Center in Morocco, the Third Worldwide

Stellantis Expands Circular Economy Initiatives with New Dismantling Center in Morocco

On May 6, 2026, Stellantis announced the inauguration of its first dismantling center in Morocco, located in Casablanca, as part of its global SUSTAINera initiative. This facility marks a significant milestone for the company, being the first of its kind in both Morocco and the broader Middle East and African regions, and the third globally. Spanning approximately 6,000 square meters, the center represents an investment of €1.6 million (17.3 million MAD) and is expected to create around 150 direct and indirect jobs.

The dismantling center is dedicated to processing end-of-life vehicles, focusing on the recovery of reusable components after quality control checks. This initiative aligns with Stellantis’ circular economy strategy, which emphasizes the reuse, repair, remanufacturing, and recycling of automotive parts. With an annual processing capacity of up to 10,000 vehicles, the facility plays a crucial role in enhancing sustainability within the automotive industry.

Innovative Processes and Future Prospects

The operational process at the center consists of several key stages, including the reception and identification of vehicles, depollution, selective dismantling of components, quality control, and the storage and redistribution of reusable parts. Components deemed non-reusable are directed towards recycling channels. Stellantis sources these components from various avenues, including partnerships with insurance companies, auctions, and vehicles that are no longer in circulation. Once validated, these parts are reintegrated into the company’s aftermarket networks, ensuring they are effectively utilized and reducing waste.

The recovered parts will be distributed through multiple channels, including Stellantis' aftermarket network, the Distrigo platform, and digital solutions such as Parts24, alongside partnerships with local specialists in used parts. Yves Peyrot des Gachons, General Director of Stellantis Morocco, highlighted the strategic importance of Morocco in Stellantis’ regional footprint. He stated, "The launch of this dismantling center for the circular economy reflects our commitment to developing sustainable automotive solutions while supporting local economic development." Through such initiatives, Stellantis aims to expand its circular economy ecosystem and contribute to a more responsible and resource-efficient mobility industry.

The Casablanca center is part of Stellantis’ international network of circular economy initiatives, complementing existing sites in Italy and Brazil and enhancing the industrial ecosystem within Morocco, which includes the Kénitra manufacturing site and the Africa Technical Center in Casablanca.
