Strengthening Security Cooperation: Abdellatif Hammouchi Hosts Polish Minister Tomasz Siemoniak in Rabat

Strengthening Bilateral Security Ties

In a significant move to enhance security cooperation, Abdellatif Hammouchi, the Director General of National Security and Territory Surveillance (DGSN-DGST), welcomed Tomasz Siemoniak, the Polish Minister of Special Services, in Rabat on Thursday. This meeting is part of a working visit by the Polish government official, who was accompanied by a high-level delegation and the Polish ambassador to Morocco. The primary objective of this encounter is to fortify and expand the partnership in the security domain between Poland and Morocco. According to a statement from the DGSN-DGST, discussions encompassed a range of mutual interests, focusing on improving coordination and information exchange concerning illegal immigration, securing border posts, and enhancing operational cooperation and technical assistance in combating organized crime and terrorism. Additionally, various specializations within scientific and technical police were also addressed.

The dialogue between the two parties also touched upon the global and African security landscape, particularly the challenges posed by terrorist threats. They exchanged insights regarding high-risk security threats in the Sahel, Sahara, and Horn of Africa regions, alongside emerging hotspots where terrorist organizations operate, endangering global security. The Polish security services are keen on fostering bilateral cooperation with the DGSN-DGST, emphasizing Morocco's role as a reliable and central partner in the fight against terrorism and organized crime.

Future Collaborations in Security

To further enhance this cooperation, Hammouchi and Siemoniak agreed on organizing a forthcoming visit to Morocco by the head of the Polish Internal Security Agency. This visit aims to establish a robust institutional framework for security partnership with Morocco. This meeting exemplifies the commitment of both parties to deepen their bilateral security cooperation and opens promising prospects for developing initiatives that will benefit the security of both nations.
