The National Rally of Independents Unveils Economic Commitments in Fes

Commitments to Protect Citizens' Purchasing Power

In a significant political gathering held in Fes, the National Rally of Independents (RNI), also known as the "Himama Party," has articulated its initial commitments for the upcoming phase of its political agenda. The party has placed the sustainable protection of citizens' purchasing power at the core of its economic and social vision. This announcement is part of the RNI's broader communication tour across various regions of the kingdom aimed at presenting its comprehensive "Himama Program" to the public.

During the event, attended by RNI leader Mohamed Shouki and other prominent party figures, the party detailed its commitment through four key measures designed to bolster the resilience of Moroccan families against economic pressures and living cost fluctuations. These measures include the establishment of a social shield to tackle the high cost of living, a savings shield for workers in the informal sector, improvements in wages and pensions, and an educational shield aimed at alleviating the financial burden of schooling on families.

Strategic Measures for Economic Resilience

The first measure aims to institutionalize direct social support indicators linked to inflation rates, employing an automatic adjustment mechanism triggered when inflation surpasses a predetermined threshold. This initiative will also involve setting a tax ceiling within the financial law to ensure fiscal sustainability, alongside a reference indicator that considers energy and electricity prices to mitigate the impact of energy shocks. According to party data, this initiative is expected to protect the purchasing power of approximately four million families, translating to nearly twelve million citizens.

Furthermore, the second measure proposes the creation of a simplified savings account, supported by the state, to address the gaps faced by workers in the informal sector, who often lack access to retirement systems, unemployment insurance, and structured social protection. This savings account will consist of two components: a "reserve savings" option allowing withdrawals at any time, and a "future savings" aspect that locks savings for 24 months, with the state providing financial incentives for each deposit made.

The third measure focuses on enhancing wages and pensions by raising the minimum wage in industrial, commercial, and freelance sectors, while striving to align the agricultural minimum wage more closely with other sectors. Additionally, the party aims to review and reform the pension system to ensure its viability.

In terms of educational support, the party proposes a tax deduction of up to 5,000 dirhams annually for each child to cover schooling expenses. This initiative is designed to complement reforms in educational institutions while continuing to support middle-class families in managing educational costs.

Moving forward, the National Rally of Independents plans to gradually unveil further commitments within its "Himama Program" as part of its ongoing political and communication tour across various regions. This initiative aims to enhance the party's presence on the ground and strengthen direct communication channels with citizens, employing a model rooted in proximity, listening, and engagement with diverse social expectations.
