Emerging Industrial Leaders in Africa
A recent report has revealed that Morocco has overtaken South Africa in terms of industrial growth on the African continent, indicating a significant shift in industrial performance across various nations. This transformation is supported by considerable investments and strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing industrial capabilities, despite the ongoing challenges that certain regions face. The findings originate from the African Industrialization Index (AII) released by the African Development Bank (AfDB) and the African Industrial Investment Barometer (AfIIB), a collaborative effort by Witba Invest SA and the French research firm Trendeo.
Between 2010 and 2024, Africa's overall industrial performance has experienced a notable increase of 6% in the past five years alone. This growth is highlighted by the rise in regional manufacturing value added, which has surged from $285 billion to $351 billion. Such advancements underscore the continent's gradual transition away from a state of non-industrialization, as more countries commit to developing their industrial sectors.
