From France to Morocco: The Birth of AH Digital
Born in France to a Moroccan family, I was raised amidst the industrial culture of Europe while maintaining a strong connection to my Moroccan roots. My professional journey has taken me through demanding sectors such as automotive, construction, railways, and manufacturing, where I witnessed firsthand a significant issue: many companies waste a considerable amount of time due to inadequate processes. Following my experiences, I embarked on several entrepreneurial projects that provided me with a ground-level view of business dynamics, balancing profitability imperatives with financial pressures and organizational challenges. A pivotal moment came when King Mohammed VI encouraged the Moroccan diaspora to contribute to the country's development, which inspired me to return to Morocco with a clear mission: to leverage my expertise to benefit local enterprises. This vision led to the establishment of AH Digital, a company dedicated to helping businesses integrate artificial intelligence (AI) and automation into their core operations. Today, AI enables the rapid development of solutions that previously took months, allowing companies to enhance their efficiency significantly.
AI Integration: Beyond ChatGPT
In today's landscape, discussions surrounding artificial intelligence are ubiquitous; however, many individuals still reduce AI to tools like ChatGPT. While ChatGPT is a remarkable tool, the true value of AI lies in its integration into business processes. At AH Digital, we meticulously analyze various operations within enterprises—including sales, customer service, human resources, production, and client relations—to identify opportunities for automation. Our goal is to automate repetitive tasks, connect existing tools, and leverage real-time data effectively. Additionally, we develop customized AI agents tailored to specific business needs. Unlike traditional chatbots, these agents can comprehend quotes, generate documents, interact with customer relationship management (CRM) systems, and detect anomalies, thereby offering a comprehensive solution that aligns with the actual needs of businesses.
Located in Technopark, we recognize that while Casablanca and Rabat remain the primary tech hubs of Morocco, Agadir possesses untapped potential. The Cité de l'Innovation Souss Massa, operated by Technopark Morocco, is instrumental in structuring a local ecosystem that fosters the emergence of new talents and innovative startups. With key sectors such as agriculture, tourism, logistics, food processing, and fishing, Souss-Massa is poised to become a strategic technological hub. The challenge lies in better connecting startups, businesses, and investors to realize this potential fully.
As we navigate the local ecosystem, we’ve encountered both obstacles and opportunities. Initially, many companies were unfamiliar with AI and its implications. However, through collaborations with institutions like Cité de l'Innovation and the Chamber of Commerce, which were already addressing AI implementation, we designed a well-received training program on AI automation, focusing on the development of AI agents. My strong relationship with Technopark has facilitated networking opportunities and participation in international forums, such as Vivatech in Paris, underscoring the importance of proactive engagement from startups in seizing available opportunities.
Despite the growing awareness around digital transformation, many Moroccan SMEs have yet to fully embrace it due to various barriers, including cost, corporate culture, lack of skills, and a fundamental fear of change. This fear often stems from a perception that digitalization is merely an expense, rather than a competitive necessity. Furthermore, companies frequently confuse digital presence with true digital transformation, which fundamentally involves internal processes, data management, and productivity enhancement. At AH Digital, our mission is to facilitate this transition with practical, measurable, and rapidly profitable solutions.
While automation promises significant productivity gains, it also raises concerns about employment. In most cases, automation transforms roles rather than eliminating them. Our focus is on automating low-value, repetitive tasks—such as manual data entry, routine follow-ups, and time-consuming administrative processes—allowing teams to concentrate on more strategic responsibilities like customer relations, analysis, and decision-making. For instance, in the industrial and maintenance sectors, financial losses often result from unforeseen disruptions or late problem detection. We assisted a Moroccan manufacturer facing critical operational interruptions by implementing an automated data analysis system that identifies anomalous behaviors in real time. Consequently, several critical incidents were anticipated before leading to costly downtimes or significant operational losses.
As the number of AI agencies in Morocco increases, discerning true expertise from fleeting trends becomes vital. The term 'AI' is frequently employed for marketing purposes, but genuine expertise is evident. A credible agency must understand the client’s industry, master their operational processes, and demonstrate tangible returns on investment. At AH Digital, our unique advantage lies in the synergy between industrial experience and technological proficiency, allowing us to address client needs effectively.
Looking ahead, the possibilities for AI applications in the Souss-Massa economy are promising. In agriculture, AI can optimize irrigation and enhance yields; in fishing, it can streamline logistics and maintenance; and in tourism, it can deploy multilingual assistants to improve customer relations. With sectors poised for immediate economic impact, the time to harness AI’s potential is now.
However, many Moroccan companies are not yet fully prepared for the sensitive issues surrounding AI, particularly concerning data and cybersecurity. We prioritize integrating data security, access control, hosting, and compliance from the outset. Poor AI implementation can expose businesses to significant risks, especially regarding security.
Regular participation in AI and automation events at Technopark has allowed me to observe a genuine shift among Moroccan entrepreneurs. While curiosity prevailed a year ago, businesses now approach these discussions with concrete challenges: how to automate, save time, reduce costs, and remain competitive. Leaders are beginning to recognize that AI is no longer a futuristic technology reserved for large corporations but is becoming accessible to SMEs. This shift is accelerating action.
Looking towards 2030, I envision AI transformation in Moroccan enterprises being as integral as the internet is today. Companies that embrace automation, AI agents, data analysis, intelligent systems, and advanced cybersecurity will gain a significant competitive edge. Morocco stands at a crucial opportunity, supported by a talented youth, a national vision focused on digital transformation, and a strategic position bridging Africa, Europe, and the Middle East. At AH Digital, we aim to contribute to this momentum by developing practical, impactful, and contextually relevant solutions that address the needs of local businesses.
