Postponement of Trial for Taza's Regional Council Leader
On Friday, April 10, 2026, the misdemeanor chamber of the primary court in Fes decided to postpone the trial of Abdelilah Baaziz, the President of the Taza Regional Council affiliated with the National Rally of Independents party, until April 17. This continuation is intended to provide the defense team with additional time to review the case file and prepare their defense arguments.
Baaziz is currently facing charges alongside 11 other defendants, all implicated in a case involving allegations of forgery, fraud, and tax evasion. During the session, the defense requested temporary release for the accused in exchange for financial bail; however, the public prosecutor opposed this request, and the court is yet to render a decision.
The public prosecutor's office in Fes has taken legal action against 12 individuals following complaints from 12 victims and testimony from eight witnesses. The primary defendant is confronted with serious charges including fraud, forgery in official documents and commercial papers, and the fabrication of false certificates, in addition to other forms of deceit.
