Multinational Collaboration at African Lion 26

In an impressive demonstration of international military cooperation, U.S. service members participated in advanced classroom instruction on electronic warfare during the African Lion 26 exercise held in Agadir, Morocco. This significant academic engagement took place on April 22, 2026, as part of a broader initiative aimed at enhancing military readiness among allied nations. The exercise attracted around 400 participants who engaged in over 20 military subjects, fostering a collaborative environment to share best practices and enhance operational effectiveness.

African Lion 26 stands as the largest annual joint exercise orchestrated by U.S. Africa Command, emphasizing the importance of collective security among the United States, African nations, and global partners. Under the leadership of the U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa (SETAF-AF), the exercise spanned from April 20 to May 8, 2026, and took place across several host nations, including Ghana, Morocco, Senegal, and Tunisia. In total, more than 5,600 military and civilian personnel from over 40 countries participated, showcasing a commitment to innovation and partnership-driven regional security initiatives.

This year’s African Lion exercise not only facilitated military training but also reinforced the bonds among participating nations, highlighting the shared objectives of enhancing security and stability across the African continent. The collaboration during these academic sessions is a testament to the collective efforts being made to address current and future security challenges effectively.
