Virgin Expands Luxury Footprint in Marrakech-Safi with New Hotel

Virgin Group to Launch Second Luxury Hotel in Haouz Province

The Haouz province of Morocco is witnessing a surge in tourism investments, with the Virgin Group, led by entrepreneur Richard Branson, set to unveil its second luxury hotel in the region. This new establishment, currently under construction, will complement the renowned Kasbah Tamadot, which Branson acquired back in 1998. According to a press release from Virgin Limited Edition, the upcoming property will feature 37 opulent rooms, reflecting a deep commitment to local culture and sustainability. The project is the result of a collaborative effort with Sazanes Immobilier, a luxury real estate developer based in Marrakech. The hotel is designed to open in two phases: the first phase will see the completion of 22 rooms by the first quarter of 2027, while the remaining 15 rooms will be ready by the first quarter of 2028.

Emphasizing Sustainability and Authenticity

Strategically located on a sprawling 10-hectare agricultural estate at the base of the majestic Atlas Mountains, the new hotel is situated just 25 minutes from the vibrant heart of Marrakech and one hour away from Kasbah Tamadot. The architectural design aims to harmonize with the surrounding agricultural landscape, ensuring that the authenticity of the region’s heritage remains intact. The hotel's construction will prioritize the use of local materials, such as stone and wood, while showcasing works from Moroccan and African artists throughout the premises. In addition to luxurious accommodations, guests will enjoy a plethora of amenities, including a Moroccan wellness center, a 40-meter swimming pool, and tennis and padel courts. Culinary enthusiasts will delight in three on-site restaurants and a Chef’s Table that emphasizes seasonal produce grown directly on the estate. This initiative aims to create a unique experience that intertwines culture, gastronomy, and craftsmanship into a single venue. Joe Margison, CEO of Virgin Hotels Collection, stated, “Our approach is to deliver exceptional experiences and authentic service.”

To further enhance the guest experience, the hotel will offer a thoughtfully curated program of cultural and immersive activities, a hallmark of all Virgin Limited Edition properties. The Virgin Group is renowned for its unique collection of hotels and retreats, each selected for their stunning locations and distinctive styles, all designed to provide personalized service and memorable experiences. The collection includes notable properties in various regions, including the British Virgin Islands, South Africa, Kenya, Switzerland, Mallorca, and Morocco, with the Kasbah Tamadot being the crown jewel in the High Atlas Mountains. Following restoration efforts after a devastating earthquake, Sir Branson's Moroccan retreat continues to exemplify luxury and resilience.
