The cancellation of a luxury tour initially planned in Morocco, which was unexpectedly substituted with a downgraded stay in Tunisia, has prompted the Tourism and Travel Mediation authority to demand full compensation for the affected travelers. The travel agency has been held accountable for the decline in the quality of services provided, leading to significant dissatisfaction among its clients.
This unfortunate situation dates back to November 25, 2023, when a group of clients booked a prestigious 4-star circuit in Morocco. However, due to the unforeseen cancellation of their Paris-Marrakech flight, the travel organizer failed to offer an equivalent solution, forcing the travelers to accept a lesser alternative. Consequently, they were redirected to a 3-star accommodation in Tunisia. This experience fell short of expectations, characterized by poor sanitary conditions and services that were significantly inferior to the originally promised Moroccan standards, prompting them to seek legitimate financial restitution.
According to the recommendations from the [Mediation Tourism and Travel (MTV)](https://www.bladi.net/accident-4x4-maroc-justice-francaise-tranche,114095.html), as reported by [Tourmag](https://www.tourmag.com/Circuit-au-Maroc-annule-sejour-de-substitution-degrade-quid-de-l-indemnisation-pour-l-agence-ABO_a130898.html), the organizer is held fully responsible for the execution of the travel package. The replacement of a luxury circuit in Morocco with a lower-category hotel does not constitute an equivalent alternative under the tourism code.
In addition to the €1,600 in fixed compensation owed by the airline for the flight cancellation, the agency is also expected to pay an additional compensation. The total recommended amount to cover the damages related to the degradation of the stay amounts to €1,435.31.
The MTV emphasizes that 97% of its reviews are accepted by the parties involved. In 2024, air transport represented two-thirds of the 16,000 cases processed, underscoring the increased vigilance of authorities regarding operator shortcomings in popular destinations like Morocco.
