Exciting September Events at the Yves Saint Laurent Museum
The prestigious Yves Saint Laurent Museum in Marrakech is set to offer an enriching experience this September, featuring a dynamic blend of cinema and live music. The Pierre Bergé Auditorium will host a series of six events throughout the month, scheduled for 7:00 PM, promising to engage audiences in the captivating interplay between the silver screen, performing arts, and the extraordinary works of the legendary designer Yves Saint Laurent.
The film series titled "Yves Saint Laurent on Stage" will be free of charge until capacity is reached, complementing the eponymous exhibition curated by Domitille Éblé and Stephan Janson. This selection of films delves into the profound influence of theater, ballet, and music hall on the creative life and artistic expressions of Yves Saint Laurent.
The cinematic journey will commence on September 7 with Federico Fellini's "Ginger & Fred," featuring the talents of Giulietta Masina, Anthony Quinn, and Richard Basehart. Following this, on September 14, attendees can enjoy René Clair's classic "Le Silence est d’or," starring Maurice Chevalier, François Périer, and Marcelle Derrien. The series will progress on September 21 with the delightful "Funny Face" by Stanley Donen, showcasing the iconic Audrey Hepburn alongside Fred Astaire and Robert Flemyng. The final film of the series, set for September 28, will be the Spanish feature "Macumba Story" directed by Luís María Delgado, featuring performances by Enrique San Francisco, Gracita Morales, and Julia Gutiérrez Caba.
In addition to the cinematic offerings, the museum will host two ticketed music events that promise to enchant audiences. The first will take place on September 16, launching a series of piano recitals curated by Fabrizio Ruspoli in collaboration with the Friends of Music Association of Marrakech. This special evening will feature renowned artists such as Marie-Christine Barrault, Lambert Wilson, and Jacqueline Bourgès-Maunoury. The month will culminate on September 30 with a concert by Trio Opus 503, organized in conjunction with the Embassy of El Salvador in Morocco and the Cervantes Institute of Marrakech.
