The police's anti-gang unit in the Marrakech Security Department has achieved a significant security milestone by dismantling a criminal network specializing in fraud that targeted event planners across various Moroccan cities, including El Jadida, Dar Bouazza, Agadir, and Taroudant. This operation marks a critical step in the fight against organized crime, particularly in the event management sector.
The successful dismantling of this network came after the security services conducted thorough investigations and field inquiries, bolstered by advanced technical expertise that enabled them to track the movements of the gang members. These coordinated security operations led to the arrest of the mastermind of the group, a man in his fifties with a history of previous convictions related to fraud. He was apprehended at his residence located in the Oases of Sidi Ibrahim, on the outskirts of Marrakech, where authorities seized equipment related to events that was acquired through criminal activities.
In a parallel effort, and in coordination with the security services in the Qalaa des Serghina region, the operation also led to the arrest of his accomplice, a man in his thirties hailing from Fkih Ben Salah. Both suspects have been placed under police custody as part of an ongoing investigation supervised by the competent public prosecutor's office, pending their prosecution for the charges against them.
