Flight Services from Tel Aviv to Marrakech Delayed: What Travelers Need to Know

Significant Changes Impacting Air Travel from Tel Aviv to Marrakech

On October 23, 2026, the anticipated direct flight connection between Tel Aviv and Marrakech, set to commence in November, has faced another setback. El Al Airlines has announced a postponement of its subsidiary Sun d’Or's flight services, resulting in the cancellation of scheduled departures until December 15. Travelers who had made reservations now have options for refunds or alternative arrangements.

Passengers of Sun d’Or can choose from three alternatives: a full refund, a travel voucher for future use, or a ticket to another European destination. For those opting to change their travel plans, El Al will cover any price differences and airport taxes associated with the new bookings. This flexible option applies to flights operated by El Al or Sun d’Or within three days before or after the original departure date, subject to availability. The details regarding these changes were elaborated by the specialized media outlet PassportNews following the announcement made on October 22 by the Israeli carrier.

Israeli Carriers Adjust Their Flight Plans to Marrakech

The latest delay follows a series of ticket sale suspensions by two other Israeli airlines, Israir and Arkia. Israir had halted its plans to increase flights to Marrakech on October 13, while Arkia suspended new bookings on October 21, despite already servicing the city since August. These adjustments have been made in compliance with new requirements set forth by Israeli security services, particularly for airlines operating leased aircraft with foreign crews, a protocol that has become stricter following an incident on September 30 involving a Flydubai flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv.

As a result, the current situation presents a stark contrast for travelers: Arkia is still assessing the status of its existing reservations, while Sun d’Or has outright canceled tickets affected by its postponement. Just a month ago, all three airlines were planning to expand their services to Morocco, but the future of Sun d’Or’s operations now hinges on the security authorizations requested from Israeli authorities.
