Significant Adjustments to Volotea Flights to Morocco
As winter approaches, travelers eager to visit Morocco will encounter notable changes in Volotea's flight schedule for the 2026-2027 season. The Spanish airline has announced that six routes will be postponed until December 19, significantly impacting connections between France and popular Moroccan destinations such as Agadir and Marrakech. Multiple French airports are affected by these adjustments, which were detailed in a report published on October 20 by AeroRoutes, based on schedules submitted as of October 18.
One of the most significant changes is the cancellation of the Strasbourg-Agadir route, which was barely a year old. This route was inaugurated in late November 2025, taking over from a service previously operated by Ryanair. Unfortunately, Alsatian travelers will lose their direct flight to Morocco for this winter season.
Impacts on Other French Cities
The revisions extend beyond the Strasbourg-Agadir route, affecting several other French cities. In Bordeaux, flights to Agadir and Marrakech will now commence on December 19, rather than the initially planned start date of November 3. Furthermore, the Bordeaux-Marrakech route will see a reduction in frequency, dropping from two flights per week to just one starting January 7, 2027.
Similar delays are observed in Lille, Nantes, and Lyon. In Lille, flights to Agadir and Marrakech are postponed to December 19 instead of the earlier scheduled dates of November 7 and November 3, respectively. The Nantes-Agadir route, initially set to resume on November 7, will now align with the December 19 start date. Additionally, the Strasbourg-Marrakech flights, originally scheduled for November 7, will also be delayed until December 19.
Beyond these six postponed routes, Volotea has canceled its Lyon-Marrakech flights originally planned from October 25 to December 16. In Nantes, the number of flights to Marrakech has been reduced from 45 to 30 for the season, reflecting a significant cut of fifteen flights compared to the original schedule, which amounts to a one-third decrease.
Earlier in October, Volotea had already announced approximately 700 flight cancellations from Lille, particularly affecting routes to Morocco. The airline has offered passengers affected by these cancellations the option to change their booking without fees or receive a full refund for their tickets.
The scope of these cuts is not limited to Moroccan routes alone; Volotea's entire network has seen a dramatic reduction. The airline has gone from scheduling 25,395 flights in June to just 17,048 as of October 18, marking a withdrawal of 8,347 flights from its initial winter program. This represents a staggering reduction of nearly 33% in its planned flight offerings for the season.
