Exciting Journey from Lourdes to Marrakech for the 4L Trophy
In an inspiring tale of friendship and adventure, four individuals from the charming city of Lourdes are gearing up for an unforgettable experience as they participate in the prestigious 4L Trophy. This humanitarian rally, which spans from Biarritz to Morocco, brings together a diverse group of people united by a common goal: to help underprivileged children by delivering essential supplies and educational materials. Ahead of their journey, Anaïs, Dorian, Marylou, and Hugo have not only formed a close-knit bond but have also creatively collaborated to fund their ambitious adventure through various fundraising initiatives.
Every year, approximately 1,200 teams embark on the 4L Trophy, driving the iconic Renault 4L over an eleven-day period that traverses France, Spain, and the Moroccan desert. The upcoming edition, scheduled for February 2027, will see the participation of two teams from Lourdes. One of the teams, named "Oh Landais Volant," is led by Dorian Goïtia and his partner Anaïs Bernede, who previously took part in the 2025 rally. They cherish the memories and friendships forged during their earlier experience and are eager to relive it before reaching an age where participation is no longer possible.
Building Friendships and Community Spirit
The pair emphasizes that this year marks their last opportunity to join the 4L Trophy, motivating them to reconnect with friends made during the 2025 edition. They acknowledge the extensive preparation required for the rally, which includes vehicle maintenance, mechanical training, and securing sponsorships to fund their journey and charitable contributions. "This rally presents a wonderful sporting and community challenge, leaving us with lifelong memories and friendships," they express enthusiastically.
In an exciting twist, Anaïs and Dorian learned they would not be the only ones from Lourdes participating in the 2027 event. Marylou Hoofs, a 21-year-old pharmacy technician, and her partner Hugo Griera, a 24-year-old engineer and entrepreneur, have also registered under the team name "Fred'Aurora 4L." Marylou has long dreamed of experiencing the 4L Trophy, and Hugo shares her enthusiasm, highlighting the vibrant atmosphere and strong connections formed throughout the rally.
As the departure date approaches, the teams are actively engaging with one another, working together to prepare for their adventure and tackle their fundraising efforts. Dorian points out the current challenges in securing business sponsorships, leading all four friends to organize events to support their mission. Their first garage sale will take place on Sunday, October 25, at the Tydos market in Lourdes, followed by another on November 29 at the Arcizac-ez-Angles community hall. Both events will feature refreshments and food stalls to foster a sense of community while raising funds. Additionally, a raffle with a top prize of a €2,000 robotic lawn mower will take place, with tickets available at various local markets and events leading up to the draw on January 9.
"Our goal is to gather funds beyond traditional sponsorships while also offering engaging activities in our town," Dorian explains. Even before the teams embark on the journey, the 4L Trophy has already facilitated the blossoming of solid friendships. "We barely knew each other a few weeks ago, and now we are friends," Hugo beams. With months until their departure, the excitement and camaraderie of their upcoming adventure are palpable, perfectly embodying the spirit of the 4L Trophy.
